Physical Discipline Is Pointless

  Back

Taking your dog to where it’s messed, pointing its nose at it and telling it it’s a bad dog is simply brainless. Where did the idea ever come from? This might satisfy someone’s foolish need for retribution but all it does to your pup is make it frightened of you. If you see your dog making a mistake, say “No!” firmly and take it to its toilet area. If you find a ‘mistake’, forget about it. Dog’s can’t understand you’re angry because of what they did, even if its only minutes before. That cowering look isn’t guilt. It’s recognition that you’re going to do something awful to them. They only know you’re angry. Don’t rub your dog’s nose in its mistake. If you do you haven’t read what’s preceded this or can’t control your anger.
